Patterning, electricity, freedom and diversity

We're working through our patterning unit, including input/output tables, number sequences and writing pattern rules.

We've been learning about both freedom and diversity. By reading picture books, students have been learning about different perspectives and using their empathy skills to better understand the characters in each story.

Both grade 5 and 6 students have had scientist in the school workshops. They will be beginning work on designing and building items that use electricity. More information will be given to students shortly, including due dates.

We have had a lot of difficulty with sticking to due dates in our class. I am going to be moving from due dates to drop dead dates. On the date that we've agreed and assignment is due, students will submit what they've completed for marking.

Book Fair

The Scholastic Book Fair is coming up!  It will run from Feb 22 to Feb 26. There will be some exciting deals like buy one get one free for junior chapter books!  Please come out and check out all the new books in English and French that Scholastic had to offer. Volunteers are also needed, it would be greatly appreciated if you could sign up on the sheet sent in this Friday's email from the office.

Thanks!

Very important note about Nov 23!!

This weekend, we experienced issues with one of the boilers at our school. While one boiler is still functioning and there is heat in the school, it is cooler than usual.  We will be at the school early in the morning to monitor the situation and will provide an update. Currently, we are anticipating that tomorrow will be a regular school day. However, please have students come to school wearing layers.

Thank you for your understanding.
